Bonnie Shlensky, BBA

Bonnie joined Reading Power’s Board of Directors in 2024 after serving as a volunteer tutor, a role she continues today. She is a passionate advocate for education and community involvement, dedicating decades to expanding educational opportunities for students.She served on the District 113 Board of Education for eight years, including a term as Board President, and began her commitment to education in 1990 by actively participating in her children’s schools. During that time, she served as PTO President at Wilmot Elementary, Caruso Middle School, and Deerfield High School.

In 2017, Bonnie became a founding member of College Bound Opportunities, a nonprofit organization that supports students in achieving their higher education goals. She previously served as President of the Board and currently remains an active Board member, serving on the Mentoring Committee.

With a professional background spanning 28 years at The Gap, Bonnie combines extensive corporate experience with a deep commitment to volunteerism. She is passionate about working with students and creating opportunities they might not otherwise have access to, making a lasting impact on their lives and helping shape brighter futures for countless young people.
